Mission Statement

Collins Intermediate blends exemplary teaching, practices, research, and a focus on the needs of the total child to create an enriched learning environment. This commitment to academic excellence is complemented by the belief that parents are an integral part of the education process. In order to create a smooth transition from the elementary school to the junior high years, the highly successful “linking approach” is utilized. Child-centered, Collins Intermediate teachers provide students with differentiated instruction in a caring classroom.

Dr. Donald R. Collins

Dr. Donald R. Collins was a graduate of Texas A&M University with many degrees in veterinary medicine. He became better known to the children in CISD as the “Snake Man”, taking his collection of snakes from school to school explaining the safety and dangers of the snake world. A devoted family man and Woodlands resident for 12 years, his presence was strongly felt in our school system as a member of the CISD Board of Education from 1979 to 1988 and as its President from 1986 to 1988. His care and guidance challenged all to a love of learning, a sharing of knowledge and dedication of personal time and commitment.
